Monday Morning Coffee: Sand and Sweat Edition

Monday Morning Coffee is a weekly celebration of local businesses, enjoyed with a fresh cup of coffee.

Make that an iced coffee, please. That’s right, summertime is here. Your grocery cart is loaded with popsicles, everything smells of sunblock and sand is turning up in the weirdest places.

Yes, your schedule might be filled with fun evenings by the grill and lazy weekends at the lake, but business is still happening.

That means that, despite the more leisurely pace of summer days, you’ve still got to connect with your target audience. It may feel like business has slowed down a bit, but don’t let that languid pace allow you to miss opportunities that your competitors are leaving on the table. Try these hot summer marketing tricks:

Mix up your social posts. If you’ve always hung out on LinkedIn, because it feels like more of a professional way to connect with your target audience, try a twist on your strategy. Throw out a few posts on Instagram or Facebook; you might find that your audience shifts a bit during the warmer months and they’re looking for their favorite brands to do the same.

Focus on mobile. You’re out and about; so is everyone else. Make sure your mobile site is responsive, loads quickly and works well across different types of devices. Don’t force audiences to wait until they’re sitting at their desktop to find you, because they probably will be on to one of your competitors by the time they get home.

Have some fun with contests and polls. Ask your target audience to rate their favorite summer blockbuster in a poll, or force them to choose between Dreamsicles and Drumsticks as a preferred hot weather treat.

You can also run a summertime contest, such as having your audiences post a summer-themed pic of them clowning around with your product on Instagram.

Tie in with a community event. Be a sponsor of your hometown street fair, or jump in to volunteer as a team with a community fundraiser. When local residents are out and about, it’s a great time to be a part of things and build connections with your community. Gather a group to run together in a 5k or sponsor a water station along the route. There are plenty of fun opportunities to get involved.

We know, you’re sweating already, but it’s going to be a fun summer. Let’s also make it a summer full of opportunities for your business. Contact us at SJC Marketing today to get some hot ideas moving for your marketing strategy!
