Valentine’s Day is celebrated all around the world, but not everyone looks forward to the day. If you aren’t going to get chocolate or if you feel like you have to spend an outrageous amount of money on flowers, you might not want to celebrate. So what do you do?

The holiday, which came about from a TV show, is celebrated the day before Valentine’s Day and has only been around for a decade. It all started with Leslie Knope, character on the TV comedy show Parks and Recreation.
Galentine’s Day is to Valentine’s Day what Friendsgiving is to Thanksgiving: a chance to recognize the impact that our friends have on our lives and thank them for their steadfast loyalty, love and laughter. And companies are taking note of all those ladies that are focusing on celebrating their girlfriends with some clever marketing.
There are happy hours, group spa discounts, and brunch deals and all are popular ways to honor the occasion.
Want more ideas on how to celebrate? How about getting manicures together, wine tasting or a dessert party. If you can’t be with your friends, send them a text or call them to let them know you are thinking of them. Get a group of friends together on a Zoom call. Have a virtual happy hour. There are so many fun ways to celebrate, even if you can’t do it in person.
If you want to get your girlfriends a gift, look for items that promote self-love, self-care and friendship.
Whatever you do, don’t forget the friends that are there year-round. They need love too.
