February is National Library Lover’s Month. Whether you’re a regular patron of your local library, devouring multiple books a week, or you only utilize services once in a while, few could argue with the benefits a library brings to the community.
The local library is so much more than a place to check out books. Your library may offer meeting rooms, classes, meet-the-author events and children’s programming. At your library, you may be able to borrow a telescope, pick up tax forms or join a reading challenge. When you need the services of a notary, literacy help for a child or access to a computer lab, try your local library.
And while you’re singing the praises of your local public library, don’t forget your academic libraries. Your child’s school librarian can be the key to unlocking a lifelong love of reading or they may offer a cozy place to look at a book when your student needs a peaceful break.
Beyond reading or resources, libraries act as a community connection point. They welcome new ideas and collaboration, fostering a healthy community culture.
At SJC Marketing, National Library Lover’s Month is easy to celebrate! On a personal level, some of our team members at SJC love downloading a great novel from the comfort of home or settling into a comfy chair at the library.
Our team at SJC is also proud of our work promoting the benefits of public libraries! Each year, SJC Marketing designs the promotional materials for the St. Joseph Public Library Foundation’s Books, Beers and Boos event taking place every October.
In addition, you’ll see the work of SJC Marketing at the Leavenworth Public Library. With a new website design, logo and tagline, SJC Marketing equipped the Leavenworth Public Library with messaging that accurately captured the culture and atmosphere of this important center of community life.
If you’re feeling an itch to go grab a book at your local library, that’s a great way to celebrate National Library Lover’s Month. Here are a couple of other ideas:
- Write a quick email to your local librarians, thanking them for their commitment to literacy. If you’ve got the time, a hand-written note might be a special touch!
- Take a spin around your library’s webpage and see if you can identify a few services you didn’t know the library offers.
- Attend a special event, meeting or book club at your local library.
- If your library offers a winter reading challenge, go for it!
At SJC Marketing, we love any excuse to settle in with a good book and, of course, a big cup of coffee. Since February is National Library Lover’s Month, we’ll be doing it at our local library!
