The Civic Arena is excited to accommodate its new residents: The St. Joseph Goats.
The St. Joe Goats played their inaugural 7-1 season in Kansas City, but after reaching an agreement for a three-year contract at the Civic Arena, the Goats are making a home in St. Joe!
The Goats are an arena football team, consisting of players who have been trained with NFL teams and played in major college programs. It’s a perfect fit for sports-loving St. Joe, who welcomed the Goats to their permanent home.
The Goats recently unveiled their new uniforms and logos, complete with their new hometown name emblazoned on the front of their jerseys.
Why Were the Goats in KC? When the team was ready to play their first season, the Civic Arena could not accommodate the Goats, so they started in Kansas City. Further communication, planning and research allowed the Goats to move to St. Joe, where the owners knew there would be a fantastic reception from fans.
What is Arena Football, Anyway? If you’ve never been to an arena game, get ready for some fun times with the Goats! Arena enthusiasts say that all it takes is one game, and you’ll be a loyal fan.
Arena football is played indoors on a 50-yard field. It does not allow players to huddle and has a quick play clock. It also values its fans, welcoming input from spectators. There are 15 men on each roster, with six playing on each side at any time during the game.
When Can I Watch the Goats? The Goats got their season started on the road on May 31 and continue through July, with playoffs beginning in August.
Perhaps best of all, Goats games are affordable. Ticket prices start at only $20, and a VIP ticket is $40.
