The weather is beginning to show signs of cooling temperatures, making it the perfect time of year to hit some of St. Joe’s beautiful trails!
Walk a couple of miles with a friend on a paved path or pack a bag for a long hike on one of the less-traveled trails. You’ll enjoy an encounter with nature and the opportunity to discover new areas of St. Joe.
Take a look at some of the best trails in the region:
The Parkway: This paved, 26-mile trail takes you past scenic groves of trees, over bridges and past many iconic St. Joseph landmarks. You’ll see Bode Ice Arena, Hyde Park and Krug Park, as well as Remington Nature Center and historic Phil Welch Stadium.
Stay on the main path if you prefer a smoother surface, or venture out to some of the more rugged trails perfect for biking and hiking included in The Parkway trail system.
Did you know? The Parkway was the vision of architect George Burnap, who designed its winding paths in 1918. In 1995, The Parkway was included on the National Register of Historic Places.
River Bluff Trails Park: Head to northern St. Joe for River Bluff Trails Park, which draws nature enthusiasts with its packed-dirt trails and scenic views. You can hike, bike, run or explore along multi-use trails that include a variety of levels of difficulty. You may find the views of the Missouri River and the Kansas skyline worth the extra effort on these challenging trails.
Keep Exploring: When you visit the site for St. Joseph, Missouri trails, you’ll access maps and guides to the many mountain bike and hiking trails available in the area. There’s the Corby Combo mountain bike trail, which is five miles long, as well as 6.9 miles of mountain biking at Krug Park. Plenty of urban trails will take you through St. Joseph, such as the Patee trails.
