April is National Volunteer Month, making it the perfect time to take the plunge and get involved with a local organization.
Have you been thinking about it for a while? You know volunteering is good for your mental health, helps you invest in your community and expands your social connections. Taking that first step to go help out, though, can be hard for many people.
That’s why National Volunteer Month is the ideal opportunity to give it a go. You can try a couple of organizations out and see which ones are a good fit. You may find that by the end of the month, you’re part of a volunteer team, serving a cause close to your heart.
Check out volunteer opportunities at one of these local organizations that our team at SJC loves to support:
Pivotal Point Transitional Housing: Try a shift working at the Thrift Shoppe. And you don’t have to jump in cold; a member of the Pivotal Point team will talk with you first and see where you would like to volunteer. The Thrift Shoppe is open six days a week, so there are plenty of opportunities to help out.
Pregnancy Resource Center: Give your time to supporting expectant mothers through volunteering at the Pregnancy Resource Center. There are a variety of positions where you can serve, such as assisting in the boutique or working as a receptionist. In 2024, the PRC served 575 women!
Youth Alliance: Equip and encourage the future of our region when you volunteer with Youth Alliance. Your availability is sure to match up with at least one of the many programs organized by Youth Alliance. From serving as a mentor to help with resumes, there is a spot for your talents at Youth Alliance.
Habitat for Humanity: Help a family realize a dream when you pitch in with Habitat for Humanity. This organization has completed 82 homes in the St. Joseph area. Whether you’re experienced with building or have never swung a hammer, you’re a vital part of building a home.
Second Harvest Community Food Bank: Volunteers are an important part of Second Harvest Community Food Bank. Work on a fundraiser, provide administrative assistance or help pack senior boxes. There are many opportunities to jump in and help.
Volunteering is an important part of any thriving community and you’ll quickly find that volunteering helps you thrive, too. At SJC Marketing, we love partnering with these and other local organizations to help them reach their goals and serve the community. Highlighting National Volunteer Month in April is a great way for you to find new opportunities to help out.
